Kayci's Quinceañera
November 23, 2022 | 3:00pm - 9:30 pm
About
A Quinceañera, often shortened to Quince, is a celebration of a girl's fifteenth birthday and her transition from childhood to adulthood. Originating in Mexico, Quinceañeras are celebrated and practiced all over the world. The mixture of traditional cultures and societal changes has resulted in many different traditions and symbols when celebrating Quinceañeras. Below are traditions and symbols Kayci has decided to incorporate into her big day.
The Court
Typically, the Quinceañera would select a court. The girls of the Quinceañera court are called “Damas,” while the boys are called “Chambelanes.” Kayci has chosen not to include an official court in her celebration. Instead, she invites her guests to be her Damas and Chambelanes. Kayci asks everyone in attendance to please wear dressy attire in pink, purple, or blue to help her celebrate.
The Gown
The traditional gown symbolizes an "adult" dress and is meant to be a lavish outfit. Kayci's gown is sponsored by Karen & Teddy Robinson and Lucie & Paul Tafalla.
Shoes
Kayci will wear two pairs of shoes during her Quince - flats and heels. The flats, sponsored by JJ & Shannon Ortez, symbolize childhood, while the high-heeled shoes, sponsored by Steven & Jeanette Nanez, represent a step toward adulthood.
Headpiece & Tiara
During Mass, Kayci will wear a simpler headpiece, sponsored by Rachel Tafalla, in the back of her hair. This headpiece symbolizes her youth and beauty in the eyes of God. After mass, Kayci's godfather, David Tafalla, will add a tiara on her head for the Dance and Reception. The tiara, sponsored by David & Kristina Tafalla, represents how God (a King) sees Kayci, his daughter, as a princess.
Jewelry
During her Quince, Kayci will wear several pieces of jewelry sponsored by Lucie & Rachel Tafalla. The earrings remind Kayci to keep her ears open to God, the medallion reminds Kayci to have faith in God and herself, and the ring and bracelet represent God's never-ending love.

Catholic Mass
Catholic Mass will be celebrated by Father Tony at:
Our Lady of the Lake Rockwall
1305 Damascus Road
Rockwall, TX 75087
at 3:00 pm
Catholic Mass, sponsored by Jesse & Nellie Ortez, is celebrated for blessings and faith. Kayci's procession will include her sponsors, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, godparents, brother, and parents.
Kayci chose the readings for the Mass. The readings will be read by Kayci's cousins, Katerina and Roman Tafalla. Both readings spoke to Kayci as they celebrate thankfulness of the people around her and the gifts God has given to her.
Kayci also selected the music, sponsored by Simona & Ron Kormos, that will be played/sung throughout mass. Since she did not have strong favorites, she selected from a short list of her parents' favorites.
During Mass Kayci will renew her Baptismal promise and commitment to God. Kayci, accompanied by her parents, will make a devotion to the Virgin Mary, thanking her for being the mother of Jesus and asking her to guide Kayci and strengthen her relationship with Jesus. An offering of flowers, sponsored by Lucie Tafalla, given as an offering.
Father Tony will bless several items during Mass, including the tiara, the jewelry, the Bible, and the rosary. The Bible and rosary, sponsored by Jane & Fred Nañez, symbolize God's eternal word.

Sponsors
Sponsors are patrons of a Quinceañera and are often referred to as Padrinos and Madrinas. The Mexican culture believes strongly in family and community. Therefore, many items of the Quinceañera are often sponsored by family and friends as a symbol of their love and affection. We are so thankful for the many family members and friends that have reached out with offers of sponsorship. Kayci is truly lucky to have so many special people in her life.
Below is a current list of Sponsors, however, is being updated as additional sponsors are added.
